Cinco de Mayo Has Gone To The Dogs
The Kansas City Chihuahua Parade And The World Record

Kansas City, MO – After this long, cold winter, “Spring Events” are two words that have a hopeful sound. On Sunday, May 4th, The Annual Chihuahua Parade in Kansas City will be the “World’s Largest Costumed Dog Parade.”

Barney Allis Plaza at 12th and Central is the ideal spot. The dogs and handlers will walk half way around the pretty downtown park without ever being in the street. Great Plains SPCA will be registering dogs in costume. There will be more cameras and News outlets than last year. Jack FM will have a live remote broadcast. There will be over 30 vendors.

Humans are free. The $5 entry fee per dog goes to Great Plains SPCA who staff two No-Kill shelters in the Metro area. Great Plains SPCA serves more than 30,000 needy pets annually. That is more than any other agency in the area. Each costumed dog in the parade will receive a free $12.00 Protected Wildlife Dog Toy generously donated by Sergeants Pet Products.

Promoter, Mark Valentine says, “We will capture the Guinness Record. The rules are simple.  All dogs in costume are welcome. The Guinness World Record is not breed specific, but there will be a vet on site to verify that they are all dogs. We have had one pig in costume.”

Doors open at 10 a.m. Organizers ask that you arrive by 11:30 a.m. for the Parade at 1 p.m. There will be awards and announcements after the parade and a free concert by Valentine and the Knights.

Valentine has done shows with Robert Cray, Gretchen Wilson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Eddie Money, The Little River Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Nick Lowe, The Byrds, Jackyl, Nigel Dupree, Jim Dandy and Black Oak Arkansas, James Otto, Dr. Hook and The Medicine Show, Mitch Ryder, Molly Hatchet, Chris Cagle, Bo Diddly, The Impressions, Betty Wright, Bobby Lewis, Bill Haley's Comets, John Lee Hooker Jr, Billy Paul, Logan Mize and others.

It’s a good cause, a fun time, a free concert and a world record.

The Kansas City Chihuahua Parade begs for a World Record and a No- Kill Community.
